Or…something
significantly less hammy.
Whatever. Let’s chat a bit about the blog, yes? There are a few things worth discussing. Don’t worry, there’ll be music. You just bring the snacks.
Mmmmm. Captain America. Always a pleasure.
Anyway, how are you guys doing? Having some magical adventures of your own? Well, friendly reminder: I'm all done with posts on Man of Steel, so when I say "Finale", I mean it. Go read it if you haven't yet, because I'd say there's some good stuff in there. Or if not good, then at least something worth disputing.
All right, then, back to housekeeping. Let me start by saying this: in an effort to
start reaching out to others across the internet, I’ve begun dabbling in
YouTube. Don’t expect anything major to
come of it -- because as I’ve said, I find making and editing videos to be a
pain in the ass -- but for what it’s worth, the possibility is now there. And the first thing I’ve done is make a
promotional video for Cross-Up.
It’s…okay, I guess. A good first
effort, if nothing else, but if I end up making more in the future there are
probably things I need to look out for.
So yeah, I’ll have to
see what I can do with YouTube. If
nothing else, it means that I can upload videos to the YouTube branch of my
Google account, and therefore directly to YouTube. I’ve already done so with a couple of videos -- including a promo video, as seen here (but isn't necessary viewing, given that if you're reading this post, you don't need a promo) -- so anyone who stumbles upon those stands a chance of finding Cross-Up. There’s probably more that I can do on the YT
front, but I’ll get there when I get there.
(Side note: the videos that are up there now are the videos in my
favorite series of posts -- the discussion posts on Majora’s Mask. If you
haven’t read them yet, I recommend doing so by
starting here; it’s not only the series that took the most effort, but the
one that actually makes me feel a strange feeling in my chest. I think it’s called “pride” or something.)
So if I can pull
something together, you may have something to look forward to besides just
static words on a page. No promises,
but…well, actually, there’s a pretty good chance that you WILL see something
interesting somewhere down the line. I
need to pick up the Spirit Showdown once again; I’ve got plenty of fresh ideas,
and there’s going to be a few changes coming to that as soon as I have a strong
backlog of content. I’ve pecked away at
it, but hopefully I can offer something more substantial soon. I would very much like to explain why there’s
a pink-haired girl with a giant hammer in the blog’s header.
All right, what
else…oh, right, the Let’s Discuss posts.
You can expect The Last of Us content
to show up in the near future -- maybe as early as Wednesday. The issue with that game is that…well, you’ll
see soon enough. For now, let’s just say
that the “actual” start of the discussion won’t come for a while yet. So my plan is to do a post on that game, then
switch over and FINALLY get some stuff up on Xenoblade Chronicles. I’ve
already got a good bit written for that one, and saying what I want to say
about that should come quickly enough.
And after that…well, there are a few other non-discussion posts I want
to get written, related to a game or two you DEFINITELY won’t be
expecting. Let’s just say there are a
few surprises in the cards.
All right, let’s go
over the rest in a few points:
--You may have noticed
that there’s now a search bar under the “follow by email” bar. So if you want to search for certain content
here on Cross-Up, there’s not as big a need to dig through the monthly
archives.
--I haven’t forgotten
about RE: Kingdom Hearts; it’s just that I’m saving a certain post on that for
a special occasion. You’ll see when the
time’s right. That doesn’t mean I won’t
toss a random post or two up there, but the “main” stuff will have to wait.
--I also want to toss
up a Manly Song of my own into the Repository one of these days. Still, given that others have named their own
manly songs in other posts, I think I’m going to start integrating that into
the Repository, seeing as how haphazard I’ve been on that end.
--I Hraet You chapters
are (hopefully) going to keep on coming.
Since a few new characters have been introduced recently, I’ll have to
add their pictures and bios to the cast page.
Assuming that I don’t get lazy, of course. (Side note: go read the guest chapters -- and more -- over at Memories of a Dimanagul. They're hearteriffic.)
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I
guess that’s about it. I’ll be adding in
content progressively over time, so if what I say doesn’t exactly match up with
what I do, I hope you’ll bear with me. In
the meantime, I hope you’ll keep visiting the blog, and keep enjoying what I
put up here. I’ll see what I can do to
grow my brand as well, so we can get some real
discussions going. New blood is
always welcome.
…You know what? I just realized that I don’t know what my
blood type is. And given that I’ve heard
that there was a guy who actually had a cure for a certain disease tucked away
in his blood, I wonder if my body holds the key to some sort of biological
revolution.
This will require
research. See you guys soon. I’m off to go grab a plastic cup, a pair of
scissors, and a whole lot of paper towels.

……………………………..OH
GOD THIS WAS A TERRIBLE IDEA
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on The Last of Us. I probably won't mind spoilers, I don't think I'm going to be playing it for quite some time.
ReplyDeleteYou don't have much to worry about on the spoiler front, to be honest. I'm not that far into the game (story-wise, not playtime-wise...at least, I hope), so pretty much all the spoilers you'll get are things you can glean from the box art.
ReplyDeleteI can tell you right now, though: get ready to see the phrase "Game of the Year!" pop up quite a bit. And I'm pretty sure it's not in a positive light...buuuuuuuuuuut you didn't hear that from me.
