I Hraet You, Disqus

Minor update right quick -- I've decided to switch this blog over to using Disqus for the comments section.  It seems to be growing more popular and more useful, so I'd wager it's to my advantage to jump on the hype train before it takes off from Radical Station for New Badassington.  I hope everything works out; I'm a little worried about the transition from one platform to another, but (as I understand it) people will be able to comment more easily via Disqus than Blogger's default platform.  Likewise, I'm worried about this "import comments" business -- particularly because right now my comments are all MIA on the pages themselves.  So if there's anybody out there just itching to lay into me, I'd recommend waiting a bit; the blog's going through some growing pains, but hopefully it'll all turn out better than expected.

Now that that's out of the way, here's a little something from me to you: some sketchy art of I Hraet You's miserly misanthropic snark-meister, JP Hoigleheimer.

Aw, look how adorable he is!  Don't you just want to give him ALL OF THE MONEY?

  2. Really? I've seen some other blogs using it, and one guy who commented on my blog before mentioned something about not being able to comment (at least, not easily) with the default system...so, yeah, I figured I might trade up.

If you don't mind me asking, just what exactly makes it so awesome? I'd like to get a little more familiar with the system.

  3. I have a personally problem with Captchas. They fucking annoy me. And I'm not going to screen comments because people can say what they want. I hate blogger's captchas, I hate typing in stupid things that make no sense just so I can leave a comment like "Cool story, bro." Disqus keeps track of all comments, and you like other people's comments; which I think is cool because that means the people interact with each other more than just making a statement. And now they have the star rating system as well, which can help someone who owns a website understand what their viewers like and dislike.

I also like how everyone's comments are recording on their profile so if someone likes what you have to say, you can view their activity of where they comment, thus leading to other cool websites and helping website owners spread their site around. Win/Win.

    Disqus is totally badass.

  4. Wow. Disqus doesn't sound half-bad -- maybe I should have switched over a long time ago. I'll have to start exploring it over the next few days.

Thanks for the input. You may have "Badguy" in your name, but you're all right in my book. Now pardon me while I ride the lightning.

    See what I did there?

  5. Wow! You switched on me while I was typing out my comment!

One reason why I use Disqus on my own blog because captchas are annoying (and I think spammers aren't as intent on using this commenting system), and it notifies me of comments I left on other blogs that use the same system. And so on.

Oh, and I love the look.
