Columna Cerului? Collaboration?! Crazy!

Transcending history and the world, a tale of souls and swords, eternally retold...oh wait, wrong game.

Anyway, for the past couple of weeks I've been working on a collaborative project with my blogging comrade, Konstantine.  Who is that, you ask? Konstantine Paradias is a metaphysical singularity -- a collapsing point on which warriors, philosophers, and lovers from days past live on within his blazing core.  As decided by fate and his own noble soul, he has chosen to use his great and terrible power for the betterment of mankind.    He also reviews comic books.

That (incredibly honest and truthful) introduction aside, we've worked together to come up with a product that will hopefully delight, entertain, and make you want to ram dollars through your screen into cyberspace -- a dream RPG dubbed Columna Cerului.  Go read the hell out of it...and if you haven't already, be sure to follow the crap out of his blog.  It's probably the smartest thing you'll do all day -- or at the very least, the best thing you can do with your time online.

You heard me.

  1. By the way, I showed an SF junkie friend of mine the system you're proposing from the game and he just went: "I'd play the shit out of it."

FYI, he hasn't touched another game his entire life, except perhaps for tekken, which he chooses to play in between SF titles. He also considers console rpgs as "gigantic wastes of time", so that's a win for you, dude

  2. Putting fighting game mechanics into the RPG seemed like a no-brainer; since a lot of people seem to hate turn-based games now (for some reason), I figured an action-based system would help out. BUT, in order to prevent it from being bran-dead or button-mashy, I thought that it'd help to have some kind of risk-reward system, not unlike the average fighter. Also combos, because...combos.

On an unrelated note, if your friend plays SF and Tekken, then clearly he has exquisite taste (and to be honest, I prefer Tekken over SF; I just play SF and other Capcom games more).

  3. Meh. I suck at both. He tried to teach me, but I absolutely blow at fighting games. Give me an rpg any day of the week, is what I say!

  4. I hear that. Considering that in order to do certain combos in SF you LITERALLY need to act within 1/60th of a second -- and can still lose to someone using brain-dead tactics -- it seems to me like RPGs bring less headaches. And heartache, for that matter.
